Personal Democracy Forum PL CEE 2016 took place last week in Gdansk, Poland. For the 4th time we met, got inspired by an especially curated line-up and got a chance to work together during the community day – 2nd day of the conference. TransparenCEE was somehow born during these community meetings: PDFs, POINTs – activists, hacktivists and NGOs coming together to talk about technology for transparency and accountability. We were proud to be a part of the event and share the newest updates from the project with the bigger crowd. Let us tell you what was discussed!
The first day of Personal Democracy Forum was full of inspiring presentations out of which our favorites included the opening speech of Jakub Wygnanski from the Unit for Social Innovation and Research – Shipyard about the crisis of democracy (Jakub finished his speech with a piece on democracy taken from the Pericles funeral speech) and a very powerful and honest talk from Joanna Garbarczyk of HejStop about hatred and on-line bullying. All the talks were divided into 4 blocks: what disconnects us, what connects us, the strategies of reconnecting and the summary talks. One of the presentations about what connects us and what are the things we have in common (commons 😉 was about Open Data Standards in the region – the research prepared by Krzysztof Izdebski who also had a pleasure of presenting it on stage. His wonderful presentation is to be found below. Do not forget to play Los Fastidios “You will never walk alone” in the background as you scroll. These wonderful slides have been prepared in cooperation with Vivid Studio and Magdalena Konik-Machulska. We are proud of it – this is what we call good storytelling!
P.S. As soon as the videos of speeches from #PDF2016 are online we will let you know!
