300+ participants from 40 countries came to Gdańsk to discuss rebooting democracy. Together with the speakers and workshop trainers they concentrated on the following questions: did the system fail us or did we fail? What are the next steps? Darko Brkan from U.G. “Zašto ne”, Krzysztof Izdebski from ePaństwo Foundation and Luna Kalas from TechSoup Europe as representatives of TransparenCEE network and organizers welcomed the participants. Luna Kalas pointed out that in these difficult times for democracy the community needs to stay united and strong.
PDFCEE17 was organised by ePaństwo Foundation, TransparenCEE and TechSoup Europe. It focuses on the CEE region, but the global trend of shrinking spaces for democratic participation made the event very international and universal.
On a first day of the event few members of our network (Elena Calistru from Funky Citizens and Sandor Lederer from K-Monitor) were panelists in “Democracy as a Buzzword” session.
On the second day the audience was invited to participate in 22 workshops and panels.
